It’s that time of the year again. School’s back in full force, the holidays are fast approaching, and we’re planning more things than ever before. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably already months ahead in your calendar.
New beginnings (raise your hand if you still associate the new school year with new beginnings even though it’s been quite some time since you’ve left school 🙋♀️), new opportunities, new plans… Anything can happen this time of the year, need to be ready for it all.
It’s exciting to make plans and start new things. After missing out on so much due to the pandemic, everything feels extra special this year. Joyous times ahead! Fall décor inspiration, sweater weather organization, and pumpkin spiced latte preparation to add to the to-do list. With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, there’s so much to do and so much to plan.
Naturally, as excited as we are, things might feel a little too hectic at times like this. Our minds want to keep going, but our bodies need a break. So, what do you do to stay on top of your game and avoid burnout during the holiday season?
The first thing I do when I start to feel overwhelmed is to go outside. Whether it’s just a walk around the block or having lunch at the park, fresh air is my number one superhero getting me back on track. I realized how much of a difference these short outings have on my productivity, so I started tracking them with my Habit Tracker and made it a part of my daily routine.

When it comes to staying productive without getting overwhelmed, one of the biggest breakthroughs I had was learning to divide up my tasks and tackle them one by one. I start by making a list of all my tasks and then break them into smaller, easily digestible ones. Just between you and me, one of my favorite things about having numerous mini-tasks is getting to check them off! And let’s be honest, gal, there’s nothing more satisfying than checking something off a list.
This brings me to my last point: The importance of having small things to look forward to. Whether it’s the satisfaction of checking something off my to-do list or the joy of making Sunday brunch plans with my friends, I always try to find the little things that excite me in my everyday life.
One of those things for me is meal planning. I absolutely love cooking, but I hate trying to figure out what to make at the last minute. Checking my meal planner every day, knowing what I’m going to make in the evening gives me something small but relaxing to look forward to.
